About the Author - Stella Vaz(Zola Kai)
Financial Educator | financial Life Planning Expert | Social Impact Advocate | Author
“My work doesn’t begin with the question ‘Who am I?’
It starts with something stronger:
‘How can I contribute to the change we want to see in the world?’”
My name is Stella Vaz, a financial mentor and social impact leader with a clear mission: to build bridges between knowledge, dignity, and transformation.
As founder of the ALLETS Network and Chair of VROUWenKRACHT Alkmaar, I focus on expanding access to financial education and long-term wellbeing, especially for women navigating complex systems. I also collaborate with individuals and organisations committed to meaningful, sustainable change.
My approach combines strategic empathy with grounded expertise. I guide people toward financial autonomy — with rhythm, clarity, and a long-term vision.
Over the years, I’ve shown that it’s possible to lead with both
purpose and precision, and to create real, lasting impact. As a migrant woman, a mother, and an independent professional, I bring a perspective that is both deeply human and sharply attuned to real-world challenges.

A Cause That Matters
In honour of my blonde momie This book is personal. It was born not only from my work, but also from love and loss. My blonde momie was not my biological mother, but she was family. A vibrant, independent woman who became my second mother, not in place of, but alongside. In heart, not just in time.
When she was diagnosed with ALS, we watched her body slowly lose its strength, but never her presence. She remained fully here. She gave until her final breath.
She sketched our favourite flower, the poppy, for my daughter when she could barely lift a pen. She chose songs for her sons. She smiled even when there was no breath left to speak. She stayed awake with us in every way that mattered.
To honour her legacy, I’ve committed to donating 30% of all net book proceeds (both Dutch and English editions):
-
20% goes to the ALS Foundation for research into the cause and treatment of ALS, and for improving care and quality of life for people with this disease and their loved ones.
-
10% goes to food projects for families in Angola where daily life is marked by shortages, but also by strength, solidarity and dignity.

Our first ALS Sunrise Walk was held in her name, and for everyone still fighting. Because real wealth is not what we build or accumulate, but what we choose to do with it.
